About Yansukhim...
So, where do I start?!! Am I honest and say that I started showing, breeding etc in the 1960's and make everyone think I'm a hundred, or be dishonest and say I've only been doing it a few years??!! OK!! Yes! I' have been doing this since the 1960's under my maiden name of Debbie Peek...But my sisters and I started out as child handlers (before there was such a thing officially!!!) Jenny Dove and Marita Gibbs were also around at the same time...so we were in good company!
When I was born my parents had a very possesive GSD...This was followed by a Miniature Long Haired Dachshund, and then in 1964 our first Afghan arrived....Banjamin Czarina, a daughter of the beautiful Ch. Pasha of Carloway, she unfortunalgtey met an untimely death and was replaced in 1966 by Zahedan Arabella, Emma, and then in 1967 by Zahedan Belusova..who's stories I will tell in Yansukhim Past.
We were lucky to have such suppprtive parents who took us to ringcraft every week and ferried us to dogs shows all over the country most weekends!! In the early days we had to apply for early removals to allow us to leave the shows early ... for our Father to get to work and us to get to our after school activities....if they weren't granted we had to come up with all manner of elaborate excuses!! My Father had the best ones and they were true!! On one occassion he marched into the secretary's tent and calmy asked if he could take his daughters from the show, early as he (as managing director of the Theatre Royal Haymarket london) was entertaining the Queen Mother at the theatre that evening...which he was!! And of course he was granted permission to leave early!!! They were indeed happy days!!
